Tour Details

The Ausangate-Rainbow Mountain Trekking is a route within the Regional Conservation Area – ACR Ausangate. As we go deeper into the mountain range, the slopes; and the summit of a particular mountain is painted in different shades of purple, yellow, green, red, pink, and other variations of these colors. The Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca (5100 m / 16,732 ft) is one of the most representative tourist attractions in all areas.

In the Vilcanota Cordillera, it is possible to appreciate, like in no other place, the presence of the aboriginal people with their attire, which they have preserved together with their attitudes of attachment to the soil and tradition. The breeding of extensive herds of llamas, alpacas, sheep, and cattle stands out in the middle of the tours; it is magical to observe, among the rocky areas and high glaciers, the sudden appearance of vicuñas, as well as the haughty condor flying overhead.

We recommend that you do at least a 1-day hike at altitude to acclimatize before doing this trek. If you already have previous experience, it is not necessary.

We offer the following hikes:

  • Hiking 3 Qorichocha Lagoons (full day).
  • Hiking Apu Picol
  • Hiking Apu Mama Simona
  • Hiking Apu Pachatusan
