The Qoyllur Riti-Sinacara Mini Trek is a hiking tour by the sacred snow-capped mountains near the communities of this region of the Vilcanota mountain range. In three days, we travel the path of the pilgrimage to the Lord of Qoyllur Riti, hiking through mountain passes that will allow us to observe the lagoons of the majestic glaciers, such as the Nevado Colquepunco (5522 m / 18,117 ft) and the Sinacara glacier (5450 m / 17,881 ft).
Sinacara is a glacier located at the foot of Nevado Colquepunco, forming part of the Vilcanota’s Cordillera and where every year, between May and June, the most important pilgrimage in the Andes takes place.
The cult of the Lord of Qoyllur Rity is related to the fertility of Pachamama with the cult of the Apus, snow peaks that are in charge of protecting the community, and some groups climb to the top of the snow peak to be closer to the Lord.
The geographical location of the Colquepunco and Sinacara glaciers allows you to have a privileged view of the highest peaks in the Vilcanota mountain range.

This hike includes a spectacular glacier crossing at 5200 m altitude!
We recommend that you do at least a 1-day hike at altitude to acclimatize before doing this trek. If you already have previous experience, it is not necessary.

Pick up at home to go to the community of Mahuayani. (Departure)
Return to the community of Mahuayani. (Return – We will arrive in Cusco at 06:00 pm aprox).
DEPARTURE – DAY 1
06:15 am – Pick up at home to go to the community of Mahuayani.
10:30 am – Arrival in the community of Mahuayani.
RETURN – DAY 3
01:00 pm – Return to the community of Mahuayani.
(We will arrive in Cusco at 06:00 pm aprox).

06:15 am. Pick up at home with private transportation.
10:30 am. Arrival in the community of Mahuayani. Breakfast break.
11:00 am. Mototaxi with direction to the Chapel of the Lord of Qoyllur Riti (4600 m).
11:30 am. Beginning of the tour inside the Sanctuary of the Lord of Qoyllur Riti. We head to the Sinacara glacier.
01:00 pm. We settle inside the camping area next to the lagoon of the Sinacara glacier.
01:30 pm. Lunch break
03:00 pm. Arrival at Sinacara Glacier. We start a short glacier crossing through a pass at 5200m. Guided tour with technical mountain equipment.
05:00 pm. Return to the camping area and have free time to rest.
06:30 pm. Dinner and bonfire.
07:30 pm. We observe the stars of the Milky Way (Wilkamayu).
07:00 am. Breakfast.
08:30 am. Begin trekking to the viewpoint of the Vilcanota mountain range.
11:00 am. Reach the viewpoint where we will have an incomparable view of the mountain range. We head to the glacier lakes of the Nevado Colquepunco.
12:30 pm. We set up inside the camping area of the Glacier Lakes.
01:30 pm. Lunch break.
03:00 pm. We approach the glacier lagoon, where we can closely observe the snow-capped Colquepunco and its ice pampas.
05:00 pm. Reach the camping zone.
06:30 pm. Dinner and bonfire.
07:30 pm. We observe the stars of the Milky Way.
07:00 am. Breakfast.
08:30 am. Beginning of the hike with the reach to Mahuayani.
01:00 pm. Arrival at Mahuayani. Lunch break.
02:30 pm. Pick up in private transportation.
06:30 pm. Arrival in Cusco.
