Tour Details

Q’enqo, Chuspiyoq and Amarumarkawasi, are part of the ancient Hanan Qusqu, inside the Sacsayhuaman complex in its upper part, being powerfully sacred places where rituals were practiced to different deities, in each of the areas. Even today its megalithic constructions made of solid stones impress tourists, and the perfect engineering from ancient times is questioned by its visitors, especially the periods of construction of those temples and sacred altars.

In the Cusco region there are 328 Huacas, which are considered sacred places made of stone where people make pilgrimages. Many times, without any figure, and other times they have different figures of men, women or animals. They all have particular names with which are invoked and venerated on a special day of the year. The ceques system of Cuzco was the most complex indigenous ritual system of pre-Columbian America. From the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, 42 ceques (stripes) towards the mountains surrounding the imperial city, maintained by various ayllus (kinship groups) who made offerings to each of the Huacas in their respective areas.
